If I tell you my boyfriend is loaded, what do I mean? Well, unfortunately
for me, it doesn't mean that he's rich. Loaded, I should note,
is not vintage slang - we still use it frequently. Meaning drunk, it's
a word with a lot of synonyms. Some of the more usual terms include plastered,
wasted, tanked, sloshed, blotto, bombed,
tight, and shit faced.
But since the theme of the week is vintage slang, why not try some strange
old-fashioned terms instead? For example, how about disguised,
popular in the 1600s? Or corned, in fashion after the American
Revolution? If that's too dated for you, try this one from the 19th century:
snuffy!
