*Ivy League refers to eight old, exclusive and expensive universities :Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth, Cornell, Brown, Columbia, Princeton and the University of Pennsylvania (so-called because they have ivy plants growing on the sides of their brick buildings). In the movie, Sonny is addressing his more educated brother Michael, who went to Darthmouth while Sonny became part of the Corleone crime family.
