Slang of the Week: call it a day (phrase)
stop working or doing an activity

Example:
After five hours of holding the kicking, screaming, and biting children, Santa decided to call it a day. Macy's would have to find someone else.

If Noel sounds mean spirited, he's kind compared to his brother Liam, who once invited Mick Jagger and Keith Richards to fight against him on a radio program, saying that the older performers were "jealous and senile." Perhaps the Stones got some "satisfaction" when they learned that Liam lost two of his teeth in a nightclub fight last week in Munich, forcing Oasis to cancel the rest of its German tour.
